Despite the slow-down in the Chinese economy's growth, the Chinese outdoor market continues to progress. According to a China Outdoor Association survey, in 2014 outdoor-related sales, excluding road and mountain cycling, hunting and angling, were worth € 2.3 billion (yuan 17.06 billion), increasing by 10.9% compared to 2013.

The strongest advance came from online sales, which jumped by 61.7%, and now represent 28.4% of the industry's total sales in China. As for mono-brand stores, they account for 53.4% of sales.

The number of retail outlets dedicated to outdoor activities has however diminished by 1%, and is now 12,302 shops. This occurrence is partly explained by the high costs of commercial real estate and competition by the web.

Over the next 5 to 10 years, the annual growth of the Chinese outdoor market should average 10%, maybe even 15% according to the most optimistic forecasts.
