The Marc Jacobs opens retail space in Printemps Haussmann

First revealed in December of last year, The Marc Jacobs, the new affordable label from the famed American designer, is coming to Printemps' flagship on Boulevard Haussmann on 28 August. The space will cover more than 860 square feet at the Parisian department store and aims to present visitors with a playful, accessible offering. The first collection from the label includes ready-to-wear pieces and accessories designed by the former director of Louis Vuitton's womenswear collections, as well as collaborations with Stutterheim, Schott and Peanuts

"These items are things that you could put together in your own way; it’s more about personal styling than about having a full runway look," said Marc Jacobs about the label's offering, which is intended to be more accessible than that of the designer's flagship luxury brand. A cotton logo t-shirt will, nonetheless, still set shoppers back $145, while a patterned smock dress is priced at $850.

The Marc Jacobs is taking up residence on the fourth floor of Printemps Haussmann, where it will be joined by the Market, a millennial-focused concept store which is set to open on September 16. The iconic Parisian department store has been attempting to inject new life into its various retail spaces since 2017. Menswear and beauty were the first categories addressed by the retailer's president and CEO, Paolo de Cesare, while in 2019 the focus has switched to womenswear, which has been reinvigorated with a more contemporary edge.

The collection is available in Paris at Galeries Lafayette Champs Elysée; Bon Marché Rive Gauche and at the BHV. Internationally, there are concessions at Harrods in London, KaDeWe in Germany and Tsum in Russia.
