In partnership with the British Council and five Official Development Assistance (ODA) countries, it’s part of an aim to promote the cultural, social and environmental values of a sustainable global fashion and textiles sector.

The “successful” pilot programme launched in October 2021 and ran into this year. It’s now being followed by the next round of the New Landscapes: Catalyst Research & Development Grant Scheme.

The grant scheme will provide around £120,000 in total, with five collaborative grants of up to £6,000 cash and up to £15,000 in-kind support.

The cash and support are available to “grow global networks to enable development of practice, experimentation and testing of sustainable design and production solutions that inspire positive environmental change”.

They’re also intended to “support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to exchange methods of designing and producing in a more sustainable and socially engaged way; [and] support young designers to become advocates for sustainable, ethical and socially engaged fashion, textiles and related technologies”.

The call is open to all designers, design entrepreneurs, and SMEs from the UK and Official Development Assistance (ODA) countries.

Applications have to be a partnership between at least one UK applicant and a maximum of two co-applicants, based in one or more ODA country. The lead applicant has to be based in the UK and have been in business for at least three years.

The applicants also need to provide evidence of “true collaboration, knowledge exchange and mutual benefit for all partners” and demonstrate the ability to deliver the project activity between next April and August.

The deadline for proposal submissions is Monday, 6 February with interviews being held a few weeks later.
