The company said Miller “brings significant experience of retail businesses and an excellent understanding of the dynamics of e-commerce and AIM-listed businesses”, which includes being CFO at New Look from 2000 to 2014.

He’s currently a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of Superdry’s Audit Committee and is a Non-Executive Director of property firm NewRiver REIT.

Miller will also be appointed Chair of the company's Audit and Risk Committee and become a member of the Remuneration Committee and the Nominations Committee from 31 December.

His arrival follows Gavin Manson's transition to an executive role as CFO, announced on 6 September, bringing the number of Independent Non-Executive Directors down from three to two from 31 December.

As such, current Independent Non-Executive Directors, Paul Goodson and Suki Thompson, will be stepping down from the board at the same time, it noted, saying the changes “reflect a more appropriate balance in light of the future needs of the business”.

On Miller’s appointment, company Chair Neil Johnson said: “His recent and relevant expertise and proven abilities will further strengthen governance and will add significant strategic value to the board and the group.”
