Uniqlo plans 10-store U.S expansion this fall

Global clothing retailer Uniqlo has announced plans to open a further 10 stores in the United States this autumn, bringing the brand’s U.S. presence to a total of 17 stores. The company also does business via its online store which launched in October of 2012.

Three stores will open in New York, four in Californai, two in New Jersey and another in Connecticut creating hundreds of new jobs and broadening the brand’s catchment base.

"Uniqlo is ready to take our next step in our U.S. expansion by opening more smaller format and mall stores in the regions surrounding our current flagships stores in the Tri-State and Northern California regions," said Larry Meyer, COO of Uniqlo’s USA business and Fast Retailing Group senior vice president.

Mother company Fast Retailing – which runs brands Comptoir des Cotonniers, GU, Helmut Lang, Princesse Tam Tam, Theory, and Uniqlo - recently announced strong growth for its first three quarters. Global sales reached 928 billion yen in 2012.
