Urban Outfitters to open ‘lifestyle experience’ in Philadelphia

Urban Outfitters has an acquired a 6.5 acre plot of land in Philadelphia where it plans to contstruct a ‘lifestyle center’. According to Dave Ziel, chief development officer at the group, Urban Outfitters wants to “expand [it’s] bricks-and-mortar retail experience to a lifestyle experience” with the creation of a mini-village.

The project includes a boutique hotel fully equipped with a spa, two restaurants and complementary boutiques and amenities. The center will include a Terrain garden center and an Anthropologie store, a brand which belongs to Urban Outfitters Inc.

The projects working title is Devon Yard and is due for completion at the end of 2016 according to local press.

“We wanted to take this really unique environment and mix it with the right tenants to create a consistent experience, a place where people will want to come and stay for a while,” continued Dave Ziel.
