Venus Williams has cemented her position as a fashion designer by joining the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

The tennis champion is one of 14 designers awarded membership to the organization this week, bringing its total number of US designers to 493.

Williams founded her activewear brand ‘Eleven by Venus Williams', back in 2007. The brand focuses on fashion-forward workout gear that celebrates self-expression and individuality. The athlete is known for wearing her own designs on the court.

Of course, Williams isn't the only member of her family with an interest in fashion -- sister and fellow athlete Serena also has her own clothing line, and has showcased her collections at New York Fashion Week

Additional designers admitted into the CFDA this month include Zaid Affas, Jason and Julie Alkire of Haus Alkire, Mike Amiri of Amiri, Pamela Bell of Prinkshop, Christopher Bevans of Dyne, Sander Lak of Sies Marjan, Lindy McDonough of Lotuff, Ji Oh, Alexander Olch, Marysia Dobrzanska Reeves of Marysia, Ahlem Manai-Platt of Ahlem Eyewear, and Alejandra Alonso Rojas.

"On behalf of the Admissions Committee, the Board of Directors and our Members, the CFDA is very proud to welcome this group of exceptionally talented designers to the organization," said Lisa Smilor, Executive Vice President of the CFDA, in a statement published to the CFDA website. "We look forward to their input and active participation within the Council."
