Vestiaire Collective sees spike in Balenciaga, Nensi Dojaka searches

As high-end resale becomes increasingly mainstream, trends in the segment are increasingly tracking those of the new-product luxury market and that has been underlined by data from one of the leading names in the resale category.

Vestiaire Collective said that ‘Balenciaga-Men’ has seen a rise of searches of 100% since the start of the month. This reflects the influence of Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ project with the Kering-owned label, as well as Kim Kardashian’s head-to-toe Met Gala look, and the influence of celebrities like Rihanna and Michaela Coel at the same event.

The reseller also said that with the announcement two weeks ago of a collaboration that brings Balenciaga’s clothing and signatures into the Fortnite video game “we only expect this [interest] to rise”.

And it added that London-based fashion designer Nensi Dojaka winning the 2021 LMVH Prize for Young Designers and making her London Fashion Week debut in recent weeks has driven searches for her label much higher.

Following her prestigious win, searches for Nensa on Vestiaire increased 45%, “and have since grown a staggering 105%”.

The company said it proves “our community is dialled into cutting edge fashion”. And it potentially also offers access to in-demand labels at more affordable prices than buying new, something luxury consumers are clearly switching on to.

Vestiaire Collective is currently available in over 80 countries and offers more than 7,000 brands.
