Visitor numbers rose 3 per cent over the previous edition at the 41st Munich Fabric Start fashion trade show, which saw over 1,000 suppliers with more than 1,700 collections exhibiting at the fair. The 41st edition saw space expanding from five to seven halls, due to which exhibition area too rose by 2,500 square metres to 42,500 square metres.

Footfalls at the Catalyzer, an extension to the Bluezone and the Keyhouse, an innovation and creative centre, exceeded expectations of the organisers.

The first prize of the first-time held Hightex Award was presented to Mectex for its 3-layer, ultra-light and water-repellent fabric featuring a membrane that charges in daylight and then emits light in the dark. The second and third prizes were bagged by Schoeller Textiles and Officina+39, respectively.

"The fact that visitors are spending considerably more time at the event is very pleasing. This says a great deal about the competence of our suppliers and the selected portfolio for the relevant segments,” Wolfgang Klinder, managing director at Munich Fabric Start said.
