today Nov 13, 2019
Boardsport lifestyle brand Volcom has been named as the official apparel partner of the U.S. snowboard team.
As part of the partnership, the brand will outfit both the men and women of the U.S.’s Snowboardcross, Slopestyle/Big Air, and Halfpipe teams through the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games, as well as coaches and support staff.
Athletes will wear Volcom at World Cup, World Championship, and National events, as well as official training camps globally leading up to and during the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
Volcom’s official U.S. snowboard team gear will include outerwear, hoodies, gloves, hats and beanies in a patriotic color scheme of red, white and blue, as well as camouflage prints.
The pieces feature Volcom's signature tech enhancements, including ‘Zip Tech,’ a patented zipper system that allows the wearer to zip the powder skirt Volcom Snow jackets into any Volcom snow pant, preventing snow from getting under the wearer’s clothes, as well as Volcom's proprietary ‘Thermal Defense System,’ which features 3-layer jackets with strategically-placed down paneling to maximize warmth without overheating.
“To have the Volcom stone be worn by the best athletes, on the highest of stages in this sport is an honor," said Todd Hymel, CEO of Volcom.
"As we celebrate 20 years of Volcom Outerwear, this partnership ushers in a new era of our history. Performance and innovation are the foundation of everything we do at Volcom. We look forward to working closely with all the athletes to gain insights, so we can continue to create best-in-class, elevated product."
"Volcom is a brand that has strong ties to snowboarding," added U.S. ski and snowboard president and CEO, Tiger Shaw.
"We have an opportunity to embark on the journey to the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games together, and I believe that's powerful. Alongside a strong and balanced roster of riders as well as an elite coaching staff, the Volcom partnership lays the groundwork for the athletes to perform at the highest level and continue to push the boundaries of competitive snowboarding."
The partnership follows Volcom's sale to Authentic Brands Group from former parent company Kering in April.
