Pinko is strengthening its senior management team. The women’s ready-to-wear label owned by Italian group Cris Conf has appointed Federico Bonelli as general manager, the first time the company, led since its inception by founder and president Pietro Negra, has called on an external executive to take charge of operations.

The appointment, which is expected to be made official in the next few days, is part of an in-depth reorganisation of Pinko’s management team. In 2018, the label generated a revenue of €210 million. According to FashionNetwork.com sources, other appointments in key positions will be announced soon.

Bonelli joined Pinko in June, and will work alongside Negra to boost the label's presence worldwide, the primary targets for expansion being Europe, Asia and the USA.

Bonelli has a master's degree in physics from Milan State University, and worked for most of his career with leading management consultancy and auditing firms, specialising in the fashion, luxury and retail sectors. Among them, Bain & Co. and the Boston Consulting Group, where he co-directed the Milan office’s fashion and luxury division, before becoming a partner at EY Parthenon’s Corporate Finance Strategy division. Bonelli also worked as a consultant to the Italian Ministry for Economic Development, advising on the reorganisation of the Italian fashion industry.
