Zalando is rolling out its Connected Retail concept to new countries with Poland, Sweden and Spain on the list from July. The programme allows physical retailers and brands to sell via the Zalando platform with the stock that’s in their stores and warehouses available on the giant e-tail site.

At present, more than 1,800 stores are connected to the Zalando platform, shipping up to 41,000 orders per day.  And this should expand fast with the addition of the extra countries.

The company said its most successful partners have shipped 6,400 orders on a single day and it added that it has “boosted retailer visibility on the platform with dedicated campaigns enabling customers to shop from local stores”.

Zalando launched its Connected Retail Program in 2016 and it’s “open to every retailer and brand with physical stores contributing to a relevant assortment”. The company provides the online content, payment services, customer care, and support through a personal account manager and proprietary order management software.

Meanwhile, the firm is continuing to offer zero commission for new partners and weekly payouts to all five markets (including Germany and the Netherlands) currently operating the programme.

The firm waived its commission fees and shortened its payment cycles in April in response to Covid-19 lockdowns. The new extension will see zero commission operating for several months and the weekly payments running until the end of the year.
