Inditex has announced plans to eliminate paper receipts for online transactions made on Zara or Oysho’s online stores. Instead, online shoppers will receive a digital version.

According to the retailer, under the new system customers will be given to option to receive their e-receipts via email. All digital receipts will be also saved on the customer’s online account.

The push to go paperless is part of Inditex’ digitisation drive, and follows the launch of mobile payments in Spanish retail stores in July last year.

Inditex said the new e-receipts system will allow for a comprehensive management of all tickets and is designed to improve the customer shopping experience while taking into account safety factors and environmental impact.

The use of digital receipts will reduce the high percentage of paper used at checkouts, and takes the company’s digitisation process one step further.
