Inditex is strengthening Zara’s presence in France with the opening of its first showroom in the capital, located at number 5 rue Pernelle. The space, which is Zara’s ninth worldwide, opened its doors this Friday 8 February.

The opening of the new showroom was a logical step for Zara as it continues its expansion in the French market to compete with other high-profile retail giants following the launch of its first Italian showroom in the revamped Vittorio Emanuele store last autumn. The French showroom was expected since the opening of a massive 4,000-square-metre flagship store Opèra or the relocation of its Boulevard Haussmann boutique, but in the end, the central area of Hôtel de Ville has been unveiled as the location of the new showroom. The space is located on the third floor of a building that also houses the brand’s recruitment office and its 88 Rue de Rivoli store.

Occupying around 200 square metres of space, the showroom presents a carefully curated selection of men’s and children’s collection. The label’s womenswear range dominates the space, accounting for approximately 80% of all pieces on display. The new Spring/Summer 2019 collection, and the label’s premium brand Studio which will go on sale within the next three weeks, are showcased there. The showroom’s offering will evolve just as quickly as its stores, introducing new styles once or twice every week. Fragrances and beauty products complete the assortment.

With a view of Saint-Jacques tower, refined lines and minimalist aesthetic, the showroom features the same interior design concept of its Spanish counterpart at 23 Serrano in Madrid, where the business operates a 5,000-square-metre store. Internationally, Zara has nine showrooms located in Paris, Madrid and Milan, as well as in New York, London, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo and Seoul. The opening comes just days after the brand unveiled a new logo designed by Fabien Baron. In France, where it already has 100 stores, Zara is planning to open an XXL flagship store in Lille in May.

With half-year revenues of €7.9 million and over 2,000 stores worldwide, Zara is leading the omnichannel strategy with collections becoming available in 202 markets since it launched a global website in November. Meanwhile, Inditex increased sales to €18.43 billion in the first nine months of 2018.
