The fashion giant is the only Spanish brand to have a presence in the mall. With 520 stores and 50 restaurants, Mall of America is the largest shopping centre in the US.

Liz McLay, SVP of Leasing said the deal continues to strengthen the mall’s retail mix, which also includes brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch, H&M, Apple, Nike, Macy’s and Gap.

Zara has over 2,198 stores across the world and is moving forward with its global expansion and store refurbishment plan.

In the last quarter, the brand reopened its outlet in the Block 37 mall in the Loop of Chicago, as well as its flagship store in one of Tokyo’s most important shopping destinations, Shinjuku.

Inditex reported profits for the first nine months of its financial year, ending on 31 November, of €2.2 billion (about $2.3 billion at current exchange rates), representing a 9% increase on the prior year’s period.

The company’s sales were up 11% to €16.4 billion (or $17.1 billion at current exchange rates).
