The Inditex-owned Spanish retailer has just launched a new 55,000 ft² flagship in Hong Kong, introducing to the Asian market a store concept already found in New York, London, Paris and Madrid to the Asian market.

Zara’s Hong Kong flagship

The store has been set up in the Crawford House on Queen's Road, a location historically devoted to trade in the formerly British city. "In the 1930s it was home to China Emporium Ltd., one of the greatest department stores of the era and the only one founded by local entrepreneurs," says Zara.

The store is the first to meet all the environmental standards laid out in the Sustainable Inditex Plan, which spans from 2011 - 2015. The location consumes 30% less energy than conventional shops, and reduces water consumption by 70%.

This address is the twelfth for Zara in Hong Kong, where it chose to open its first Chinese store in 2004. Today, Inditex brands number 28 stores in Hong Kong and 457 throughout China.

In 2013, Inditex reported much slower growth than in the past, with a net sales increase of only 5% at 16.7 billion euros, and a like-for-like sales rise of 3%. Zara, for its part, saw its net sales increase by 2%, while its stores grew by 7% to over 2 million square meters.
