Alexander Wang releases denim collection

Published
Jan 13, 2015

Until now, Alexander Wang included denim pieces as part of his collections. But having worked on a selection of jeans for women and widened the selection of washes, the American designer, who is also artistic director of Balenciaga, has now released DenimXAlexander Wang.

Alexander Wang has gone for a racy campaign for the denim collection

Available online in 50 markets where the Alexander Wang brand delivers, the collection includes three fits: slim, relaxed and boyfriend, each available in three finishes and almost solely made of 100% cotton. The pieces, called Wang001, Wang002 and Wang003, are being sold at between 215 and 282 euros depending on the cut and wash.

To set the launch apart, Alexander Wang has put together a racy online campaign for the collection. Photos showcase top model Anna Ewers, who has previously worked on campaigns for the designer, naked and posing in sultry positions.

Shot by photographer Steven Klein (who has worked for the likes of Calvin Klein and Alexander McQueen) under the direction of Pascal Dangin from the agency KiDS, the campaign uses the "X" from the title both as a logo and as a visual censor.

The collection, for now modest in scope, will be released in select stores in March 2015. Its reception should determine whether it will be further expanded.
