For the first time a woman will be at the head of the Italian Footwear Manufacturer's Association. The members present at the Assocalzaturifici annual members' meeting, which took place on Tuesday 9 June in Milan, elected Annarita Pilotti as president of the association for a four-year term (2015-19), a press release announced.

Pilotti, the only candidate for the position, succeeds Cleto Sagripanti, who was elected head of Assocalzaturifici in 2011 and who has just been appointed president of the European Confederation of the Footwear industry ('CEC').
After a first stint as a policewoman, Annarita Pilotti decided to become an entrepreneur. Now 57 years old, she runs the luxury shoe company Loriblu along with her husband Graziano Cuccù, who founded the label in the 1970s.
The members at the meeting also elected Siro Badon (De Robert Calzature), Andrea Brotini (Pakerson), Giovanna Ceolini (Parabiago Collezioni – Thierry Rabotin) and Luca Silvestri (Safe Way) as vice-presidents of the Association.
