Banana Republic has major plans for New York Fashion Week. The apparel brand announced on Monday that it has shifted the timing of its NYFW presentation to fit the retail schedule, the opening of three pop up shops in the US and a new collaboration collection with Banana Republic global style ambassador, Olivia Palermo.

Banana Republic Global Style Ambassador Olivia Palermo will debut a collaboration with the brand during NYFW

The pop ups, which will be located at Banana Republic stores in SoHo in New York City, The Grove in Los Angeles, and Grant Street in San Francisco, will offer the spring 2017 collection and third-party product curated by Palermo. Banana Republic will open the shops on February 9 and will host celebrations at each store and via Banana Republic's website.

In addition, Palermo and Banana Republic will debut a capsule collection in February during NYFW during a private preview. The collection will be unveiled in September prior to the launch of the collection.

"I am so honored to evolve my partnership with Banana Republic with such a personal approach to both our pop-ups and capsule collection," said Palermo. "We're a great team and it's truly been such a collaborative approach that reflects the synergy between my style and the brand."

Olivia Palermo was named Banana Republic global style ambassador in September 2016. She is the first female to take on the role for the brand, joining NBA athlete Kevin Love, who was named male global style ambassador. Palermo also collaborated with Nordstrom in 2016 on the Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28 collection, and she has collaborated with Aquazurra, Sephora and Baublebar.

Banana Republic last week announced the departure of brand president Andi Owen, who decided to part ways with the company after 25 years. She served as Global Brand President since 2015. Gap CEO Art Peck will oversee Banana Republic in the interim following Owen's departure in late February.
