Band of Outsiders to return for Black Friday
Band of Outsiders will live on again before this year is out thanks to Filene’s Basement.
The defunct menswear label is currently being offered on the discount website for 50%, and it will receive a further reduction of 25% from Black Friday through Cyber Monday. The discount retailer launched this year as an e-commerce website offering name brand and designer goods for up to 70% off.
Filene’s Basement got its hands on the full inventory of the brand’s New York flagship store according to a spokesperson.
Scott Sternberg shut down the label this summer after canceling its Fall wholesale orders and laying off majority of the staff. Prior to the shutdown, the brand canceled its Spring 2015 show and lost its men’s Design Director, Joseph Pickman, to American Apparel. Belgian fashion fund CLCC SA tried to auction off the brand’s intellectual property rights and inventory in July and even considered continuing operations without Sternberg.
Company owner, Trinity Place Holdings, revived Filene’s Basement this year in September. Syms Corp., the former owner of the discount retailer, shut down its stores in 2012 before selling its rights to Trinity Place Holdings.
