Comptoir des Cotonniers quits US market
Comptoir des Cotonniers will soon cease doing business in the USA. The French brand belonging to the Fast Retailing group, which established itself on US soil in 2008, is about to mark the end of its operations there. Between now and the end of March, the brand will close the six stores it opened in New York.
Comptoir de Cotonniers explained that the decision is due to its desire to refocus on France, at a time when the brand's corporate identity is being redesigned. "To redefine Comptoir des Cotonniers on its main market" is thus the current objective for the retailer, which operates about 225 stores in France and 150 in the rest of the world.
The label is chiefly present in Europe and, with the end of its US adventure, its international operations will be virtually limited to Japan (about 50 stores), where Fast Retailing is based and therefore enjoys a more solid grounding.
In any event, France is where Comptoir des Cotonniers will present its new look, whose outline it is beginning to sketch, notably through the work of Creative Director Anne-Valérie Hash, before deploying its new brand concept internationally once again.
