DHL Exported Program winner presents collection at NYFW

DHL announced the four Cycle 2 winners of its Exported Program and hosted a fashion show at NYFW for one of them, Marcel Ostertag of Germany.

Outfit from Marcel Ostertag's 2016 Fall Collection inspired by rain. Beaded fringe and the raindrops on the sweater are all reminiscent of rain and the theme of the collection, says the designer, who is one of the four winners of the DHL Exported program. The program helps young designers their fashion to international markets.

The Berlin-based designer presented his Fall/Winter 2016 collection on Thursday, February 11 at The Gallery at Skylight Clarkson Square. The collection was inspired by rain and comprised of 60 looks that, according to Ostertag, “bring German glamour to New York City.”

DHL and IMG launched the DHL Exported Program in 2014 to support designers seeking to expand across international borders. Designers are invited to submit proposals to expand their business in four key retail markets, and panels of regional experts in New York, London, Milan and Tokyo review entries from designers in 36 countries.

The logistics company sponsors winning designers by fully producing runway shows for two consecutive seasons, as well as covering the logistics costs of producing the collection and shipping the finished garments to the runway in New York, London, Milan and Tokyo. One of the winners of the 2014 program was Francesca Liberatore, an Italian designer who continues to show at NYFW.

The remaining Exported Program Cycle 2 winners are Sid Neigum, Atsushi Nakashima, and Ann Sofie Madsen who will present at London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo, respectively.
