Farfetch and Buro 24/7 have brought together a group of exciting up-and-coming designers from around the world to reimagine the football kit as part of the 2018 Buro Fashion Forward Initiative.

Farfetch

The large-scale programme, aimed at finding and supporting emerging designers, launched by Miroslava Duma in 2014, challenged seven designers from China, Russia, Ukraine, Brazil Mexico and the Middle East to incorporate unique elements of their culture and personality to pay tribute to this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

The result is a capsule collection of menswear, womenswear and unisex pieces that will launch exclusively on Farfetch on 19 June with prices starting from £120.

Designer brands Ienki lenki, Dan Shan, Biro, Kris Goyri, À La Garçonne, Jankoy and Sandra Mansour participated in the challenge.

Ienki lenki from the Ukraine added new silhouettes to their classic collection for this capsule, whilst Dan Shan from China designed pieces with the intention to celebrate not only competition but the beauty in being vulnerable.

Biro from Russia chose to add colours in line with the Russian flag and Kris Goyri from Mexico reimagined the kit of the Mexico team from 1986 in lightweight fabrics. Comfort and simple cuts formed the basis of À La Garçonne from Brazil retro sportswear pieces and Sandra Mansour from the Middle East played with oversized silhouettes and nods to the game represented in design details on each piece.
