French department store Galeries Lafayette now has a fashion editor, Alix Morabito, who has worked as the retailer's Deputy Buying Director for menswear since 2015.

Alix Morabito

Morabito, 36, is a graduate of the Institut Français de la Mode (the French fashion institute) and began her career in 2000 at French agency BETC, as art buyer. Next she was Art Director at the Mafia advertising agency in Paris, before joining Galeries Lafayette as womenswear buyer. She worked between 2008 and 2015 as Senior Luxury and Designer Buyer at Printemps department store, then as Fashion Accessories and Licences Collection Director at Chloé. She has now returned to Galeries Lafayette.

As fashion editor, Alix Morabito will be tasked with strengthening the department store's fashion statement and supervising the "design coherence of the product range." It is actually a cross-over role, in which she will have a coordination function with buyers.

Alix Morabito will report to Elisabeth Cazorla, Ready-to-wear Director and member of the executive committee, and will "link closely with the Image and communications department," the Galeries Lafayette has stated.

Morabito's role must not be confused with that of fashion director, held by Englishwoman Averyl Oates as head of purchasing, from August 2013 to February 2015, and now taken over by Elisabeth Cazorla.
