Harvey Nichols hires ex-Burberry exec as CEO
Jan 9, 2014
British department store chain Harvey Nichols will welcome on board former Burberry CFO and SVP Stacey Cartwright as chief executive officer from February. She takes over from Joseph Wan who enters retirement in March after 21 years at the company.
Stacey Cartwright informed previously employers Burberry of her departure in January 2013, six months prior to her leaving date. She was replaced by Carol Fairweather.
During her stint at Burberry, Cartwright honed her international development skills and plans to capitalise on that in her new position: “I am delighted to be joining Harvey Nichols at such an exciting time in the luxury retail market; a market which demonstrates significant potential and for which I have enormous passion," said Ms Cartwright. "I am excited by the opportunity to further develop this world class brand both in the UK and internationally.”
However, the department store has yet to name a successor to Paula Reed, the well-known fashion editor who joined the chain as fashion director. Reed held the position for just over a year before leaving the company in October.
