A new executive stage for e-commerce is what the Inditex group has just created. While the matter had been handled company by company until now, the Spanish retail giant needed someone to step in and manage its online sales at the group level. According to the economic journal Expansion, this role has been entrusted to 31 years-old Maria Fanjul, who most recently served as the CEO of Entrada.com, a specialist in online ticket sales.

From now on she will be leading the e-commerce operations of all the group's brands, including Zara, Massimo Dutti, Oysho, Pull&Bear, Berschka, Stradivarius and Uterque.

Zara is currently still the retailer which brings in the most sales for Inditex, since it is the one most widely distributed on the web, with 22 countries concerned. The European markets were of course the first ones to be approached but online boutiques were also recently opened in Mexico and South Korea, and in addition Zara has signed an agreement with the Chinese Tmall marketplace to ensure extensive exposure on this market.

Maria Fanjul will report on her e-commerce development actions directly to the CEO of Inditex, Pablo Isla.
