Textile machinery’s biggest trade fair – which takes place every four years – will hold its 17th show in Milan in 2015. This next edition will put the emphasis on sustainable development.

Some 1,400 exhibitors are expected to fill the exhibition centre’s one million-plus square feet. For its 2011 edition, which was held in Barcelona from 22nd to 29th September, the trade fair brought together no less than 100,000 professionals of 138 different nationalities.

“The move towards sustainability is becoming more and more a part of clear commercial practices”, explained Stephen Combes, president of the show organizer Cematex. “The keyword here is ‘sustainability’, and we hope that the industry’s representatives will join us on our mission to promote more ecological solutions and practices for the whole of the textile and apparel value chain”.

Itma will open with a World Textile Summit and a round-table featuring leaders in sustainable textiles. Conferences, workshops and presentations on new procedures are also on the programme, and the spotlight will shine on professionals working in textile research and development. Demonstrations of Italian artisanship will also be presented at the exhibition centre, Fiera Milano.
