J. Crew announces the launch of J. Crew Mercantile
J. Crew Group, Inc. on Friday announced the launch of its new value-driven concept called J. Crew Mercantile. J. Crew mercantile will carry classic J. Crew women’s, men’s, and children clothes that were once only available in J. Crew Factory stores. The collection will now be carried by both concepts.
The first J. Crew Mercantile store is slated to open at The Shops at Park Lane in Dallas, TX by the end of July.
J. Crew Mercantile may be the company’s response to its current financial woes. In June, the company fired 175 of its corporate employees, and an employee that publically made light of the firings. In the first quarter of 2015, the company saw a decline in sales and revenue from its mainline though its Madewell line continues to see success. The company moved one of its Madewell designers, Somsack Sikhounmuong, to head of women’s design for J. Crew.
The J. Crew Factory website revealed that more locations will open soon.
