Karl Lagerfeld creates capsule collection with Yoni Alter

The house of Karl Lagerfeld has created a special capsule collection with artist Yoni Alter.
Alter, an Israeli-born graphic specialist, themes the collection around his signature pixelated graphics. The result: images of Karl Lagerfeld in his classic darks shades; his beloved white Siamese cat Choupette and classic Karl logos emblazoned over the new collection.

Including dresses, T-shirts, sweatshirts, jean and shorts; alongside safari styles in khaki, the capsule will be available online, in Karl Lagerfeld stores worldwide and in select big boutiques, starting on April 1, 2018. The Paris-based fashion house currently boasts 95 mono-brand sales points globally. While its online boutique at Karl.com is distributed in 96 countries.
Alter’s collection for Karl includes accessories, from a safari camera minaudiere and phone case to wallets and carryalls; often finished with pixelated animals wearing Lagerfeld’s trademark stiff white collar and sunglasses. Given the German couturier’s life-long yen for technology, Alter’s designs are made using innovative techniques like lawn embroidery, perforations and rubberized motifs.
“Karl and Choupette are so iconic in their appearance, and I had a lot of fun playing around with these figures and visuals. I felt like testing if they’d still be recognizable if I reduce the amount of details and pixelate them,” explained Alter, a London-based artist who already boasts a range of merchandise for the Tate Museum.
Since its relaunch as a digitally driven business, Lagerfeld has focused heavily of capsule and collaborations, including collections with Kaia Gerber, Vans, Swarovski and Long Tall Sally. Now they are beautifully blurred by Alter.
