La Perla chooses Pedro Lourenço as Creative Director

La Perla has found a new Creative Director. According to our sources, the Italian luxury lingerie label entrusted its creative directorship to brilliant Brazilian designer Pedro Lourenço, whose appointment should be formalised in January. We contacted the fashion house but it didn't wish to offer any comment.
La Perla has been without a Creative Director since last June, when Tuscan designer Emiliano Rinaldi, whose contract wasn't renewed, left the company. In 2014, Rinaldi was called upon by the Italian brand to lead the men's line relaunch into the high-end segment, and also supervised the launch of the La Perla Atelier upmarket collection last January.
Pedro Lourenço is the son of Brazilian designers Gloria Coelho and Reinaldo Lourenço, and fell into fashion right from the cradle. He started designing at the age of 12 for his mother's second line, Carlota Joakina, and was only 15 when he launched his own brand at the Sao Paulo fashion week.
After a brief stint at the Studio Berçot school in 2008 in Paris, Lourenço learned the ropes at Lanvin and Giambattista Valli, before going truly solo. The darling of fashion editors, he presented his first women's ready-to-wear collection as part of the official Paris Fashion Week calendar in October 2010. He has now decided to dedicate himself to La Perla, moving to Bologna in Italy. His Sao Paulo boutique will be shut in January.
Lourenço is appreciated for his technical expertise and architectural style, and was a finalist at the Andam Grand Prix in 2013.
