Sep 24, 2015

This autumn, "LOOT: MAD About Jewelry", celebrates its 15th anniversary.

The six-day exhibition and sale will be held at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York from September 28 to October 3, and feature 55 emerging and acclaimed jewellery artists from 21 countries.

Artists featured include London-based Ute Decker, who works with handcrafted pieces made from recycled silver and gold, Japan's Yu Hiraishi, and Canada's Lauren Klassen, who makes jewellery inspired by mass-produced objects like keys, padlocks and pins.

This year's LOOT Awards will go to cultural patron, collector and journalist Barbara Tobe and Vacheron Constantin, the oldest watchmaking manufacturer in the world. The award is given to luminaries in the world of design, including artists, jewelers, timekeepers, collectors and patrons.

"Over the years, LOOT has become one of MAD’s most popular and defining events. The exhibition and sale is a nexus for local, national and international jewelers, as well as an invaluable resource for jewelry aficionados,” says Michele Cohen, MAD Trustee and LOOT Chair. “By continually spotlighting the act of making, LOOT serves as a connection point between viewers, wearers and artists through stimulating conversations about process and a stunning presentation of some of today’s most unique contemporary art jewelry.”
