The luxury brand, which received France’s Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living National Heritage Company) status in 2007, is moving into a 1,187 sq ft boutique on Stafford Street.

It’s the second major eyewear brand to say it will open in central London lately with Property Week reporting that Linda Farrow will this month open in Covent Garden’s Royal Opera House Arcade. The store will be the brand’s second London location.

Tom McHugh, director at Thor Retail Advisors, which advised both retailers, told the specialist property publication that the opening reflect growth in the luxury eyewear category in recent periods.

One of the few businesses still legally able to make eyewear frames in turtle shell, Maison Bonnet’s ready-to-ear and custom-made frames have been a magnet for celebrities and cultural figures for many decades. It has made eyewear for Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Georges Simenon, Francois Mitterand, Le Corbusier and Yves Saint Laurent.
