Dec 15, 2016
Japanese retailer Muji will enter the Vancouver market for the first time next year with a pop up shop. From January 27 to February 28, 2017, Muji will have a “pop-up” pavilion inside Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim, as part of the Japan Unlayered exhibition.

The pop-up, designed by Kengo Kuma using Canadian oak, will feature an exhibition presenting Muji’s concept, as well as carry a selection of the brand’s signature products for sale.
Muji first expanded to Canada in 2014 with the opening of their first storefront in Toronto, followed by the opening of their Square One Shopping Centre location, in Mississauga, Ontario. This October, they opened their third Canadian location at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, in Ontario.
At the time of the opening, Muji said they planed to expand further and to open more stores across Canada. Among their expansion plans, the company has confirmed that they plan to open a permanent location in Vancouver in 2017. No specific location has yet been announced.
