Saint Laurent reopens on Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris
Saint Laurent is continuing with its renovation plans. The project for revamping the Parisian label is following its course via the rebranding developed by artistic director Hedi Slimane since 2012, collections on the website, a review of the logo and a new store concept.
"38 Faubourg", the store dedicated to womenswear located at 38 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, is the latest item on the list to receive the Hedi Slimane touch.
The store's neighbouring menswear location, at 32 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, will also receive a facelift, staying closed for several months while it is restructured.
Once this last renovation is completed, all of the house's Paris stores will present the new store concept sought by the designer who found her inspiration in the modernist movement and French-style Art Deco revisited with a contemporary style.
Veined marble, a play with mirrors, and metallic lines in the shelves give the space a geometric element. The appointment of some of the stores, such as at 38 Faubourg, is completed by vintage furniture hunted down by Hedi Slimane.
The ground floor holds the women's ready-to-wear collections and accessories, while the first floor boasts a private salon reserved for VIPs. The 38 Faubourg is the only store in the French capital with this exclusive private space.
There are only two other Saint Laurent stores, both in the United States, to offer this luxury: Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles and Green Street in New York.
The private salon in Paris is furnished with pieces from Danish furniture craftsman Theo Ruth and French designers Jacques Adnet, André Sornay and Alfred Porteneuve based on drawings by Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann.
Also of interest are the Bamana masks from Mali, which serve as a reminder of the iconic designer's passion for Africa and the African art sculptures in the fabulous collection that Yves Saint Laurent built with Pierre Bergé.
