Santoni opens first store in Paris

Santoni has opened its first flagship store in France. The Italian luxury footwear label has been looking for the right location in Paris for over three years, and the search is now over, with the opening of a store in the French capital's 'golden triangle', at 36 avenue George V.
The premises are located in a typical Haussmann-style building. The interior design is by Patricia Urquiola, who has styled the other leading Santoni stores, notably those in Via Montenapoleone, Milan, and Madison Avenue, New York.
The design is sleek, featuring quilted fabric walls by Kvadrat in orange hues, and a white and green marble fireplace, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere, which is emphasized by armchairs, footstools and a wooden circular table.
The 50 m2 store focuses chiefly on men's shoes and leather goods, all entirely manufactured in Italy. Santoni was created in 1975 by master craftsman Andrea Santoni in Corridonia, in the Marche region, which is renowned as a footwear-industry hub.
The label is already present in Paris with retail corners within the Galeries Lafayette, Le Bon Marché and Printemps department stores, and its intention is to find a second location in the French capital to feature its full range (men's and women's shoes, handbags and leather goods).
Santoni currently operates 24 mono-brand stores, to which another seven are expected to be added by the end of 2016. A store will open next September in Miami, followed by Baghdad, Seoul, Macau, as well as Vietnam and China.
The Italian label has a staff of 600 and in 2015 generated a revenue of €70 million, of which 18% in Italy, its main market. Its other leading regions are the rest of Europe (15%) and the USA (12%).
