Galeries Lafayette is beaten! While most of us thought 3,000 square metres completely dedicated to beautiful shoes is unbeatable, Selfridges takes over the title for largest shoe department. On September 23, the Oxford Street department store opened the doors to The Shoe Galleries, a 3,250 sq metre area designed by Canadian architect Jamie Fobert.

Serial shoe addicts will be able to give away their heart to this selection of shoe beauties. Who is who from the selected shoemakers? Not only the best from Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, LK Bennett, Tod's, Salvatore Ferragamo and Kurt Geiger but also ... we can find the luxury likes of Prada, Dior, Gucci, Chanel and Fendi; 150 brands are finally brought together. And not forgetting the gallery’s share of exclusives, new labels (35) and limited editions for our buying delights.

As for the decor, it can’t be the biggest space of shoes in the world without separating it a bit. In fact, six “rooms” are accompanied by eleven "apartments", which are dedicated to luxury shoes’ leading brands. One dedicated to Chanel, reproduced from Mademoiselle Coco's apartment. Repetto has his mimicked as well as that for All Saints. There are also two "Designers' Rooms”.
For the rest, the space between the shelves plays with contemporary, comfort and ambulation. To better serve the event, window displays and escalators are accessorised like high heels. And gourmet creations of all kinds decorate the space.
