Thakoon on Friday opened its first-ever retail location in New York City at 70 Wooster Street in SoHo.

Giancarlo Valle of SHoP Architects designed the 2,500-square-foot store that features multi-hued concrete walls by Fernando Mastrangelo, lighting by Michael Anastassiades and furniture from Vonnegut/Kraft.
The new store will offer Thakoon collections from the runway straight away and limited-quantity releases every two weeks. In addition, Thakoon houses an atelier in the rear of the store where Panichgul himself will be stationed. “There’s romance in that for me,” Panichgul said. “I think of Coco Chanel coming down from her apartment [on the Rue Cambon] to her store and seeing customers. It has an intimacy.”
Thakoon showed his spring 2017 collection on Thursday, September 8, the first day of New York Fashion Week.
