The most American of ready-to-wear brands is celebrating its 30th birthday this year with a plethora of festivities, a famous new ambassador, a second store in Paris and a biography. Here's a look at some of the events marking the celebration of this third decade.

Founded in 1985, the Tommy Hilfiger brand has never stopped evolving and today produces a large selection of ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, perfumes, sportswear and denim, as well as luxury collections for men, women and children. Firmly focused on American values and traditions, the brand regularly celebrates the American family -- its main source of inspiration -- in its campaigns and collections.

A new face in Rafael Nadal

The festivities for Tommy Hilfiger's 30th anniversary began earlier than planned. In fact, it was last December that the brand announced the arrival of a new ambassador, Rafael Nadal, to be the face of the Tailored and Underwear lines for Fall-Winter 2015. The campaign should be released in September.

Tommy Hilfiger campaigns often use models from around the world to represent the 'family' (Behati Prinsloo, Jourdan Dunn, Chloe Blackshire and Julia Hafstrom), and for its 30th anniversary, the brand has called upon a unique ambassador for two of its lines. Though not American, this tennis champ embodies the values at the brand's core: passion and determination.

"Rafael Nadal has been a longtime personal friend and supporter of our brand, and I'm continuously inspired by his dedication and passion for his sport," said Tommy Hilfiger when announcing this collaboration.

An American fashion show, a store in Paris

In February, the festivities continued with a remarkable show at New York Fashion Week. The décor: an NFL game. Artificial turf, scoreboards and giant screens surrounded the sporty yet elegant silhouettes that strutted before a veritable who's who of invitees.

Meanwhile this week in Paris, Tommy Hilfiger hosted a star-studded gala opening for a new store with guests including Behati Prinsloo and Olivia Palermo. The second Tommy Hilfiger store in Paris, it's situated in a XIX century building at 43 boulevard des Capucines, just a short walk from the first store on the Champs Elysées.

Far from over, the celebration of this 30th anniversary will reach this fall with the publication of Tommy Hilfiger's memoir. A look back at his 30 years in fashion, the book will be published by Random House imprint Ballantine Books.
