Moncler is one of Italian fashion and luxury’s greatest success stories this century. FashionNetwork.com caught up with CEO Remo Ruffini in Milan for some insights into making Moncler a mega success and his future plans.
Milan’s big debut this season was at Bottega Veneta, where young British designer Daniel Lee presented a punchy, tough-chic fashion statement, riffing and revolutionizing many of the codes of this brand.
After slowing down in the last three years, the Italian label owned by Kering is relying on new creative director Daniel Lee, whose first show is scheduled on February 22 in Milan, to return to growth.
Last year, Kering was in divestment mode (Puma, Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane), but the luxury group said it is ready to go ahead with new acquisitions in 2019, without however identifying its targets.
The luxury group's leading label posted record results in 2018, and is expecting to grow at twice the market’s rate in 2019, reaching a 40% operating margin, as it prepares to launch a high jewellery line.
